I've really never thought of watches as precious jewelry, in fact over the years I've never really understood the need to have a watch, because telling time is no longer required thanks smart phones, laptops, Siri, you car...and so on. As my interest in jewelry grew, It became more of an accessory in my eyes, something to compliment a bracelet or make you look like you have someplace important to go. Then, something happened. Me and my dad bought my mom a Michael Kors watch and as soon I placed it on my hand, I understood why watches were more than a simple accessory or a telling of time.
Chanel editorials and watch advertorials also helped me fall for watches because of their beauty and intricacy. I began to understand why watches are inherited and passed on to generations. They're rich, luxurious, complex and chic. They're also very personal and they take on the wearers personality. Of course, I'm not just going to just sit here and tell you all about why watches are something I appreciate in fashion.
