Secrets of a Street Style Star: Mayar Badie
Mayar Badie is an Egyptian girly girl who happens to have a full-time engineering job. Proving that beauty (and style!) and brains can surely go hand in hand, Mayar decided to launch her blog, Style Memoir by Mayar, alongside her 9-to-5 job. With a highly fashion intrigued mind, she confessed that she has an unhealthy appetite for all things fashion - as well as all things pink. Mayar shares this passion mainly through her blog, and her popular Instagram profile @StyleMemoir_by_Mayar, and so we decided to give you an insider's look at her personal style and favorite beauty picks.

A fun dress up game for grown-ups. It is all about having fun expressing who you are and what you want. To me, inspiration from trends, street style celebrities, bloggers, etc. is essential, but in the end, I like to make sure I am enjoying myself in the process rather than making an effort to imitate.
What is your signature style, and how did you develop it?
High street mixed with high-end. Basic mixed with statement. Plain mixed with color. Timeless mixed with trendy. I think my lack of organisation and pre-planning would mean that I would naturally opt for a simple, elegant, easy to put together outfit, but then my love for color, statements and a bit of glamour would have to add the final touches; through accessories, bags and shoes.
What does your summer shopping wishlist include?
- A prairie off white dress, and a frilly ditsy floral dress.
- A pair of Sophia Webster sandals.
- A new sun hat.
A styling tip you live by..
Ill-fitted clothes clothes are never flattering or slimming. A good tailor should be your best friend.
How to take the perfect selfie?
I'm still trying to figure that one out - but, I know that sunlight is the best natural filter!
What are your favorite Instagram accounts to follow?
Name three pieces that every woman should have in her closet.
- A crisp white button down shirt.
- A well fitted black jumpsuit.
- A denim dress, endless ways to re-style it and can be dressed up or down!
If you could raid anyone's closet, it would be...
Serena van der Woodsen!
A fashion trend you would never try...
I never like to say never, but I am really not feeling the pajamas trend. I don't get it. Why? Why would we do so?
If we could peek inside your handbag, what would we find?
Mobile phone, bank card, Chanel Les Beiges sheer glow, hand cream, sunglasses.
How can you survive a bad hair day?
A hat if we are approaching hair wash day, and a braid if the hair is just not cooperating. Plus of course big glasses, and a bit of glamorous styling to distract.
What are the three beauty products you can't live without?
- Origins, GinZing, eye cream.
- Chanel, Les Beiges, healthy glow sheer powder.
- Too Faced, Better Than Sex, mascara.
One item you should never splurge on..
I completely believe that finding the perfect pair of jeans is fate. If it is meant to happen in the thrift shop, it will. My favorite pair is from Topshop, and I personally would not splurge on a plain pair of jeans.
You're guilty of having too much ... in your closet.
White tops - whether they're shirts, camis, off shoulder tops, anything white. Oh, and statement necklaces too! And sunglasses. And Adidas Superstar sneakers. Did you say I had to pick one ?
Do you have any fashion regrets?
What could be regarded a regret now was probably very trendy at the time - so I'd say no.
