I don't know about you, but I've had my share of the traditional Arab kitchen. In Ramadan, we are reluctant to have some Thai, Chinese or even some junk food, however that doesn't mean we shouldn't play around a bit. Potatoes are something you would usually find at your Iftar table, whether around the fried chicken, or even some french fries. My favorite potato dish has to be potato gratin, it reminds me of weddings for some reason.

What you will need:

3 Potatoes

1 Onion

1 Cup of Cream

3/4 Cup of Parmesan Cheese

Salt

Pepper

Steps:

1. Start off by heating your oven to 180 degrees, and grease up a baking dish with butter.

2. Slice up the potatoes into very thin round pieces, and also slice up the onion into thin pieces.

3. Start arranging the potatoes in the baking dish, layering them in a line one after the other.

4. Between each layer, add one slice of onion among the potatoes.

5. Once you are done layering the potatoes, spice up the dish with some salt and pepper.

6. Combine the cup of cream with the cheese and mix them together in a separate bowl.

7. Pour the mixture evenly into the dish.

8. Time to put the dish in the oven and leave it for 45 minutes. Be sure to watch the top layer, you want it crispy golden.

9. Leave the potato gratin to cool down for a few minutes before serving.
