Reviewing Fashion Forward Dubai (Season2 Day3)
The third day of Fashion Forward Dubai was full of fashion shows and of course full of different views on which shows were a hit and which ones weren't.
First things first, House of Fatam was a success! I loved the monochrome pieces, in other words the three ladies behind it gave the monochrome trend a funky twist; from vests, skirts and tops, they've done it perfectly. Cool skirt colors were also among the collection showcased at Fashion Forward, think mustard yellow and green, not to mention experimenting with different fabrics such as velvet. I've also seen them present the much coveted tutu skirt in a great and unique way. Last but not least, you could spot the east meets west inspiration (culture mix) in their collection; all in all great job.
In previous seasons you could easily identify a Tahir Sultan piece, but with his collection showcased at Fashion Forward yesterday, this was not necessarily the case. This time, Tahir Sultan had many different styles and shapes in one collection, which in my opinion was a great change. The pieces included a much wider variety, which only means one thing, more women with different styles can easily rock any of Tahir Sulan's pieces from his latest collection.
KAGE as always have their very own signature style, simple pieces with a hippie like feel to them. The looks showcased at KAGE's collection included basic looks, which you can wear on a daily basis, and they have also introduced one tribal print in two different colors; red and blue. I have to add that their show was extremely crowded, I wasn't able to breath properly, which does mean they are pretty popular among the Dubai crowd, but also that they need to go for the bigger hall next time to make it easier on the people attending their show.
Essa put together quite an interesting show. He started off with blacks then incorporated whites into the looks as well, and ended the show with colorful prints. The sequence went smoothly and perfectly! Lace, chiffon and popping flowers were part of his collection, which somehow had a rocker chic vibe to it, even for the pieces in creme. Things then took a twist with the brighter tones and prints, which were very interesting, not to mention the beautiful shapes and cuts. People around me were expressing their admiration in various ways! What more can I add? Well, Essa's show was definitely among my favorites at Fashion Forward...
The last show at the third day of Fashion Forward was Dina JSR. Once the show was over it wasn't clear how everyone felt about it, or at least the people I spoke to. However, I personally liked it. I really wanted to see more structured pieces; the pieces that made me fall in love with Dina JSR's style for the very first time I laid eyes on them (back then). The colors she chose for this collection such as peach, olive green and light blue never go out of style, mainly because they really compliment women and their beauty. One last note before I leave you, the way she used the golden belt with many looks was simply amazing!
