Rihanna Wins Battle Against Topshop
It isn't the first time we hear of a case that brings labels, designers or celebrities to court. This time it was between Rihanna and Topshop, where five million dollars was filed against Topshop from Rihanna for printing an unflattering image of her on the brand's T-shirts. Rihanna said that she would have never allowed a picture like this to be used without her consent. The T-shirt featured a picture which is a snapshot from a video from 2011 which has been described as a "low quality image."
Rihanna's lawyer Reed Smith has stated that this T-shirt could be damaging Rihanna's "goodwill" and might damage her reputation in the fashion scene. On the other hand, Topshop's argument was that her bid is unjustifiable due to the fact that the British Photographer was under the British law, which does not prevent photographers from selling the artist's pictures. Topshop did not sell the shirt in the store's US branches, it was only in the UK.
Do you really think Rihanna has a valid point in filing that case, or that's all due to her collaboration with River Island?
