When Cynthia visited y.knot
My next feature designer is a special one. I know I always say this about people I feature but I genuinely find something unique in every one of them. I am excited to share with you my visit to the y.knot boutique in Saifi, Beirut, owned by the amazing Yildiz. She opened the store in 2006, ten days before the July war. She was initiated by her niece to knit baby items. It first sounded like a crazy idea to which her niece said “Why not?” And this was the cheeky spark that created the concept, name and store – y.knot. Yildiz was taught by her governess at age five. She used to knit for her dolls and hasn’t stopped ever since.
The collections include dresses, tops, bikinis, among many other things. The collection grows with seasonal updates out of inspiration. Yarn plays the most important role in getting her inspiration. Her favorite thing to knit are baby born knits as she loves the energy in doing it. Knitting classes are also offered at y.know where any age range can apply and start learning.
Check out snapshots of the store below. Hope you will be as enchanted as I am, I also played around mixing and matching some of the boutique’s pieces with items from my wardrobe.
