HOW TO:
Take your tired old skinny jeans and transform them into something current for the season as seen in Isabel Marant's SS 12 collection. I had these high street jeans for ages and they needed a lift!
Just grab a bucket, bleach, rubber bands and your old skinny jeans. Tie the jeans any way you like. There are many videos and books available if you want to create a specific look but the more random the better I feel. Tie and twist and knot as shown in the image here. You can submerge the jeans completely in bleach mixed with water (as I did with the blue jeans) or leave the waistband out of the bucket for more colour (like I did with the red jeans) by pegging the waistband to the rim of a shallow bucket.
Give them 45mins to an hour, checking continuously for the progress of the bleach by lifting the bands and then when they're done use gloves and a scissors to cut away the rubber bands. Once the bands have been cut away, rinse the jeans in water and hang them outside to dry. When they're dry you can then pop them into the wash with loads of detergent to make sure they are bleach free. Et Voila! You've got some on trend new skinnies to rock.
TIP:
Denim is a fabric which bleaches very quickly so you can't just leave the jeans in a bucket and go for a run! You'll need to watch the colour and bleach levels by lifting the rubber bands.
