Just because International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women is over, doesn't mean the support for the cause has ended. In fact, the UN has launched a campaign, 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence, which will end on the 10th of December 2014, the International Human Right's Day. The UN Women joined forces with the UNIC to inaugurate the campaign in Egypt and begin the 16 days of activism.
The campaign invites you to, "Orange Your Neighborhood" with the color designated by the UNiTE campaign to symbolize a brighter future without violence. The number of women experiencing any kind of violence is just too much; for example, about 120 million girls worldwide have been forced into intercourse or other sexual acts at some point in their lives. Join the cause and #Orangeurhood, you don't necessarily have to paint your home orange, the point is to unleash the color of orange around you. Wear the color orange, splash it across the banners of your website, or the cover of your Facebook profile, the point is to send an anti-violence message across and end this gross violation of women's human rights.
Be sure to check out the vidoe and banners below by UN Women and spread the word!
