A Grill Sandwich maker is famous and bought for its beautiful basic sandwich making skills. It is however capable of making a lot more than just sandwiches and even with making sandwiches we often forget how easy it is to add a lot more to a sandwich than just cheese and a turkey slice.

This article is dedicated to utilizing your press down toaster or sandwich maker to new levels with two sandwich recipes, vegetables and a dessert. You might have never thought of using your sandwich maker like this before, but after trying these you'll find yourself making your on the run cooking your favorite meals of the day!

1. Mixed Cheese Toast.

Let's start with the basics, the classic grilled cheese sandwich, but only by taking it to next level. Start by buttering your toast for extra flavor. Add a layer of Halloumi, Cheddar, Kashkaval and/or Emmental cheese. Prepare for a cheese explosion in your mouth that is heavenly.

2. Ultimate Sandwich For Lunch

Start by laying out 2 pieces of toast. Add mayonnaise and mustard to both pieces. Add a piece of smoked turkey breast and good quality salami or roast beef on one side. On the other add lettuce and sliced tomatoes. Go back to the toast with meat and add pickles and a slice cheddar cheese.  Add mayonnaise again to one side, if you'd like, and close the two pieces of toast together Place it in the sandwich maker and press down the top. When it's done divide the toast into two triangles and enjoy!

3. Grilled Vegtables

Yes, you can grill vegetables on your sandwich maker and they turn out great! This is a hot salad recipe that is so easy and you'll absolutely love it. Start by buttering the grill on the toaster or adding olive oil. Slice zucchini, eggplant, red onions, bell peppers and place them on grill side of the sandwich maker (don't press down the top, leave it open so it won't stick). Keep an eye on it and flip them to grill evenly. Once they're done, remove from the toaster and season with oregano, thyme, salt and pepper. Make a salad bed by laying out arugula and adding the grilled veggies on top. Top it with crumbled feta cheese and dressing (Balsamic vinegar, garlic paste and olive oil).

4. Savory Cheese Crepe

Make a traditional crepe recipe but instead of adding vanilla extract, add a pinch of salt. When your crepes are done, lay slices of your favorite cheese inside and roll into a cylinder shape. Place your roll in the sandwich maker and press down the top. Wait till the cheese has completely melted.

5. Dessert Toast

Add  cinnamon, apples, bananas and peanut butter (you can also try almond butter or hazelnut butter or Nutella) in a toast or wrap. Place in the sandwich maker and press down. After a couple of seconds remove it, brush it with a mixture of melted butter, sugar and cinnamon. Add the toast or wrap in the grill again and press down. The brushed mixture will give it an extra crunch and caramelization.
