Ramadan Recipes: White Rice with Peas by Nora El-Sadat
A lot of people find making well-cooked white rice at home challenging! However, with this white rice with peas recipe, a perfect dish is guaranteed every single time. Read on to know the easy steps to make a delicious dish of white rice with peas, that will go with many of your Ramadan Iftar menu choices.
Ingredients to make white rice with peas:
2 cups rice (washed)
2.5-3 cups water
3 pieces of mastic
Peas (a handful)
1 Tbsp butter
4 Tbsp oil
Salt and pepper
Steps to make white rice with peas:
1. In a cooking pan, add oil and mastic then add the rice, stir for 2-3 mins and add salt and pepper to your taste.
2. Add the peas to the rice and butter, and mix well.
3. Meanwhile, let the water boil in the kettle, then pour the hot water over, and move the pan to a lower heat and cover it.
4. Wait until the water is absorbed, and the rice is cooked.
Tip: Do not open the pan occasionally, leave it to cook on low heat, and stir in only once.
