The famous Egyptian dessert Om Ali can be right at your table this Ramadan. Want to know the story behind the name? Rumor has it that Om Ali was the first wife of Sultan of Egypt and she soaked Egyptian bread in milk, nuts and sugar in celebration of his death. And that's how it all started!
What you will need:
4 Cups of Whole Milk
3/4 Cup of Sugar
1 Cup of Crushed Almonds, Hazelnut and Pecans
3 Table Spoons Raisins
3 Table Spoons of Flaked Coconut
Cinnamon (if needed)
2 Cups of Cream
Steps:
2. Butter up the baking tray then add only half of the Om Ali packet. Before adding the other half of the packet be sure to add a pinch of salt.
3. Add the desired amount of the crushed nuts, almonds and raisins all together in an even manner over the Om Ali pastry.
4. Pour the milk bit by bit over this mixture and spread the other half of cream on top and place it in the oven for 10 to 13 minutes.
5. Serve into small pots and bon appetit
