Ramadan Iftar Menu: Day 14
Groat Soup + Traditional Okra + Caramel Frappuccino
The Soup:
Groat Soup Recipe
What you will need:
4 cups of chicken broth
3 Tbsp of groat
1 Tbsp of butter
1 small onion
Salt and pepper
Steps:
1. In a frying pan, chop the onion and fry it in the butter until it turns golden.
2. Wash the groat and soak it in water for 15 minutes then drain it.
3. Get a pot and boil the broth in it, then add the fried onions and groat to it.
4. Adjust the taste with salt and pepper as you prefer.
5. Leave the soup on the stove until the groat is well cooked.
Main Dish:
Traditional Okra Recipe
What you will need:
1/4 cup of minced garlic
1/2 kilo of okra
2 Tbsp of butter
1 green bell pepper (chopped)
1 lemon
2 cups of chicken or meat broth
3 Tbsp of tomato paste
Salt and pepper
Steps:
1. Start by cutting off the bottom tip of each okra and peeling the stem on top in the shape of a funnel or cone. If the okra is large in size, cut it in half. After you finish prepping the okra, set aside.
2. In a cooking pot, melt the butter then add the minced garlic and stir till it turns golden.
3. Add the tomato paste and stir then pour in the broth, stir again then bring it to a boil.
4. Set the stove on medium heat then add the okra, green peppers, and squeeze the lemon over the mixture. Stir well then leave it till the okra is cooked.
