We sat down with Iman Arafa, a 29-year-old Crossfit coach and a personal trainer at HIT Egypt, to tell us how she transformed herself from a couch potato to a super active and fit person! True or false: Before starting training just a while ago, you never ever worked out.
Surprisingly, that is true! I was a couch potato, I never played any kind of sports in my life, my lifestyle was far from healthy, and I had a desk job for 7 consecutive years. I never thought that sports would be one of my interests, as my days were all revolving around junk food.
So, how did the change in your lifestyle happen?
Well, I guess everyone has reached rock bottom in their lives before, the stage where you're most desperate for any change. So, I decided to get out of my comfort zone and try something that I never thought I would do. And this is when I discovered Crossfit, and I fell in love with the game ever since.
Crossfit changed my lifestyle completely, and made me more productive and energetic physically and mentally. That is when I decided to study it and pass the certification test to become a certified Crossfit coach, in order help people around me change their lives as I did and feel better about themselves. It took me 2 years to achieve that.
What would you say to anyone who thinks that they can't make a turn like that?
It's never to late to find your passion, I found it at the age of 27 when I was thinking that my life would never change, and when I was so used and comfortable to the routine.
Impossible is nothing! Be determinant, be stubborn and never give up on anything that makes you happy, even if everyone around you doesn't believe in you. Believe in yourself, and miracles will happen.
