You Can DIY the 'Uneven Denim Hem' so You Don't Have to Buy a New Pair

I've recently discovered my new favorite web destination, named HonestlyWTF, a lifestyle blog founded by Erica Chan Coffman and built from her love of design and craft, which you can really see from the blog's incredible skillful and creative DIY posts.

I was cruising through their DIY projects and came across this simple yet "never knew I needed this" idea. Step hem denim jeans became a trend a while back and are still a big part of jeans designs in high street stores and yes, now you can do it yourself.

We all have that one pair of jeans that is a bit boring and we wish it had little pizzazz. So this is a brilliant way to save money and yourself from a potentially wrong fit (we all know how hard to is to find the perfectly fitted pair of jeans) This is how you can DIY uneven denim hem easily...

You will need:

- Straight leg jeans

- Ruler

- Dressmaker's scissors

- Pen

- A seam ripper

Looking for another creative DIY? We've got a ton here!

1
Turn the jeans upside down and cut the hem off each leg. Put them on and measure how much you want to remove from the front hem.
2
Turn them inside out again and draw a line on the front of both legs with your ruler (around 2 and a 1/2 inches).
3
Remove the side hems up to the marked line with the seam ripper.
4
Cut along the drawn line.
5
It should look like this now.
6
Start removing some of the white threads one by one to create frays.
7
Give them a wash before wearing them and they will look as good as new.
