In celebration of UAE’s National day, we thought we should introduce you to the many successful homegrown faces of the UAE. The native Emiratis are so proud of their heritage but they celebrate similarly the diversity of their country. So to honor this day, we gathered the names of the successful homegrown people of the UAE.
1. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed Al Maktoum
Let's start with Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed Al Maktoum, the best example for a successful homegrown face to the UAE, he is the crown prince of Dubai, he is also the chairman of the Dubai executive council. He was chosen to be supreme president of the newly founded Hamdan bin Mohamed e-University. Sheikh Hamdan is also the head of the Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashed establishment for young entrepreneurs. And if that is not enough to make Sheikh Hamdan successful, he also sits on the Dubai sports council and the Dubai autism center. Beside he is also a very famous poet, and he publishes his poetry under the name of Fazza.
2. Ali F. Mostafa:
Another successful homegrown face to the UAE is Ali F. Mostafa, he is a British-Emirati film maker, director and producer. The first Emirati film to be made ‘The City of Life’ was actually credited to him. In 2010 during Dubai International Film Festival ‘DIFF’ he won the ‘Filmmaker of the Year’.
3. Fatima Al Jaber
Fatima Obeid Al Jaber is a proud homegrown successful Emirati entrepreneur, she is chief operating office of UAE based Al Jaber Group. She is also the first Emirati woman to be elected to the Abu-Dhabi chamber of commerce board of directors. According to Forbes Magazine she ranks the 13th of 200 most powerful Arab women.
4. Ms. Alia Abdulla Al Marzouei
Ms. Alia Abdulla Al Marzouei is another successful homegrown face to the UAE, she is the chief operating officer of Mazrui Holdings LLC and also a board member of insurance house, International Horizon College and Just Falafel. And according to Forbes Magazine, she ranks as the 26th of 200 most powerful Arab women.
5. Ahlam Al Shamsi:
Best known as Ahlam, she is one of the very successful successful homegrown Emirati female singers at the UAE and in the Arab world. Ahlam was crowned Queen at the Festival in Doha 2003, Qatar.
6. Madiyah Al Sharqi
Madiyah Al Sharqi is one of the successful Emirati fashion designers, she was born to the royal family and she discovered her love for fashion since a very young age. Al Sharqi is recoginized internationally as a brand and was awarded in 2013 by the Woolmark prize. Vogue Italia also recognized her as a Vogue talent and was awarded as best fashion designer at 2013 Arab women awards.
7. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammad bin Hasher Al Maktoum
Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammad bin Hasher Al Maktoum is a shooter and he was the first to win an Olympic medal for his country the UAE. He won the golden medal in 2005 ISSF World Cup.
8. Elham Al Qasim
Elham Al Qasim is an Emirati woman who proved that nothing can stop you to make your dreams come true. She’s the first Arab woman to reach the North Pole on a successful skiing expedition in 2010.
