Sunscreen is without a doubt an everyday essential. If there is one thing you can’t skip in your daily skincare routine it would be sunscreen. Sunscreen protects our skin from the harmful sunrays UVA and UVB. Excess exposure to these harmful rays damages your skin and leads to wrinkles, spots, and skin cancer. Since it’s a crucial step, there are plenty of options available on the market, but there is one question that pops up on a lot people's minds while standing in the sunscreen section..."should I get the lotion or spay?" and I am here to tell you the difference and whether you should go for a lotion or spray sunscreen.
To begin, regardless of whether it’s a lotion or spray, you want to make sure that you are using and you should use an SPF 30 and an SPF 50 plus on sunny days.
Spray sunscreen is so much easier to apply to the skin than lotion, it takes less time and makes no mess, however, it is believed that lotion or cream may provide more coverage. With lotion sunscreen, by rubbing it with our hands until it’s soaked, it gets completely absorbed into the skin, rather than having it just sit on the surface.
Some spray sunscreens may contain alcohol, so for those of you who avoid alcohol when it comes to their skin, you might want to stay with normal lotion or cream sunscreens.
Bottom line is a lotion or cream sunscreen will provide more protection and has less irritants. However, spray sunscreens can be great if you just make sure to apply a decent amount and rub it well into the skin, getting all the spots you want to be protected. Also, always keep an eye out for the ingredient list. If you want the maximum possible coverage, though, you should go for the lotion sunscreen and choose the best one for your skin type.
