The key to taking care of teenage skin is treating breakouts and oiliness without making your skin too dry. A lot of teenage skin problems fall under the umbrella of congested skin because of the change in hormones and stress. So let's try to look over the 4 basic ways you can start taking care of your skin.
Teenage Skincare Tips
Cleansing Tips for Teenage Skin
This is the most important product for teenagers. I remember when I was 15, I had no idea that cleansing was essential. I used to skip using cleanser when I was lazy, until I noticed my skin getting worse and breaking out. My mom always use to give me her cleanser to use and insisted on me washing my face twice a day. It is also preferable that you wash your face as soon as you're home so the dirt, oil and pollution doesn't sit on the skin too long. If you breakout a lot avoid cleansers with fragrance or a lot of oils.
Find something to detox and purify without being too drying or stripping your skin. Because, even though you will be tempted to really over-clean and scrub your skin, that actually does the opposite where it starts to produce even more excess oil to make up for the lost hydration and therefore makes you breakout.

Moisturizing Tips for Teenagers
I know a lot of you are tempted to skip this step, especially if you're oily. But keeping your skin hydrated is absolutely essential and you should try not to skip this step, at least once a day. If you have oily skin use lightweight gel formula, like the Clinique one below. If you have dry skin you can go for a thicker moisturizer.
You should also take care to moisturize your body, especially the elbows and knees. That way you can help avoid dead skin from forming and darkening your skin.

Masks for Teenage Skin
Masks are a good idea, once a week to kind of reverse and detoxify the skin from any congestion, blocked pores and built up oil. If you have oily skin, clay masks will be your new best friend, but don't forget to moisturize afterwards. If you have dry skin the first Glossier mask below is a moisturizing mask that is also soothing and will give your skin a pump of hydration.

The Pimples and Teenage Acne
We're doing a big article soon on acne and how to deal with it. However, we still wanted to brief you on what to watch out for. First of all remember to let your skin breathe. Don't apply makeup and foundation everyday and remember to always wash off make up before bed! It's a must. Also, always keep your hands clean before putting them your face and regularly clean your phone because it's probably the dirtiest thing we own and we put it on our face at least 5 times a day.
Also when it comes to treating your skin and your teenage skincare routine, try not to do too much. Keep the routine basic, minimal and effective. Of course, don't pop your pimples, believe me I regret it till this day, because it creates scars that take forever to go away.
