Who is a Parisian woman? We got to see a little bit of her glamour on the rooftops of Paris at the Chanel Ready-to-Wear Spring 2020 collection. The show this year was run by beautiful skirts in all their forms, paired with a sophisticated and very 'Coco Chanel' take on the trend. Virginie Viard created a youthful collection that inspires the modern woman to channel her inner artist.
After seeing their beauty, form and wearability, I find myself aching to own a Chanel skirt. The show featured the skirts worn with beautiful sheer tops and of course with the classic Chanel jacket. I also loved the looks where the skirts were paired with shirts and a longer coats on top.
Sometimes the models had semi-sheer black tights underneath the skirts, which is something I'll definitely be doing for fall this season. There were also matching skirt and top sets that were stunning and of course thin Chanel belts and embroidered belts made a few appearances.
Now as for the skirts, the collection left very little out, there were so many different interpretations of the skirts and some designs really took me my surprise, pleasantly. You know the skirts worn under dresses to give them lift and volume, take that and make it fashion with a little bit more structure and beautiful tailoring and a more formal interpretation of the gypsy skirt.
I also loved the high waisted layered short skirts, but of course the dramatic A-line short skirts stole the show for me. I loved how they were puffed out and at the perfect height above the knees.
Other trends that we've been seeing recently were also incorporated into the skirts, like tassels, fringes, frills and graphic prints. Take a look at more of the collection here...
